SO MANY ONES!

Happy Pepero Day~

For those of you who don’t know, in South Korea, Pepero (or in Japan, “Pocky”) Day is celebrated every year on November 11th.

Why?

Do you see it?

11/11 looks a lot like the individual sticks of Pepero in the box, so every year, people give their loved ones or sweethears boxes of Pepero, in a mini-version of Valentine’s Day. And, this year is especially special for all who celebrate, because it’s 11/11/11!

If you hit up your local Korean market today, you will find some pretty amazing versions of the normally standard little red boxes of Pepero and Pocky.

Mini-Grace got me one of those special Millenium Edition boxes for Pepero Day.

Don’t worry, I got one for her, too! Size-wise, it works out really well for the both of us~

But seriously…those giant Pepero boxes are kind of ridiculous.

As fun as this silly holiday is, unfortunately, it’s been yet another year where only Mini-Grace has given me a box of Pepero.

Here’s hoping that by next year (though it may not be the Millenium Pepero year), I will be blogging about the boy that gives me my very own box of chocolate-covered goodies.

For now, will you, my lovely readers, accept this gift and celebrate this day with me?

In less than 3 days, your donations have added up to $330~

I am SO grateful for the generosity of my lovely readers, and can NOT wait to hit that big 9-0-0!

Today’s featured photo comic is for Angel Vega from Maryland, who has also been put onto the New Mercy Project’s featured donor list! Thank you for your generous donation~

Please continue to send in your donations, and get your photo comic while you still can!

11 have been purchased, only 19 to go! Love your faces!

What, is my math off?

Trust me, it’s not~

Apparently, Friday’s post of Andy’s Photo Comic sparked a lot of interest on Facebook and Gmail, and almost 20 requests for photo comics have come in.

In the past, I have been very hesitant in drawing photo comics for people, mainly due to people promising to pay me for the commissions, only to have “forgotten.” Or, people requesting them, and never following up.

But because you have all been quite persistent…and because I haven’t held a large-scale photo comic offering in a while…

Here’s the skinny on how this will work out:

  1. Between now and Christmas, I will draw up to 30 photo comics for you lovely readers.
  2. Here’s the catch: If you want the photo comic, you have to go to www.newmercyproject.org and donate a minimum of $30 to support the children’s feeding program in Haiti.
  3. Once you’ve donated, send an e-mail to newmercyproject@gmail.com with your name, and a high res photo of yourself or the person you want photo-comic’ed.
  4. If you send your donation and photo in before December 1st, I can ensure the delivery of your photo comic before Christmas.

So what does this have to do with the “30 x 30 = 2,700”?

Well, if I draw 30 comics at $30 a pop…and, if $1 can feed 3 children in Haiti’s weekly feeding program…

…Then by the end of the year, your purchasing this one-of-a-kind photo comic will feed 2,700 Haitian children for Christmas. That’s enough to feed every single child on Grace International’s campus.

What better Christmas present could you possibly give than the gift of hope and life? (Plus, your purchase will be tax-deductable!)

As a bonus, I will post your photo comic (and promote any website/cause you represent) on this blog, as well as on the New Mercy Project’s website, with the title of “Featured Donor.”

The ball is now in your court, lovely readers~ Let’s make it work!

Happy Belated Halloween, lovely readers!

Aside from handing out candy to the way-too-old-to-be-trick-o-treating kids in the neighborhood, my holiday has been pretty quiet on the entertainment front~

Fortunately, I got to at least have a bit of fun at work, dressing up for the in-office costume competition.

Remember my fish, Wade? He got to help me out~

Between my friend Chris (the too-cool-for-school Dinosaur) and myself, we shared the “Best Costume” award. It was good times~

On a more serious note, I have had the privilege to work with a group of talented people over the past week and a half in order to submit a video entry for the What’s Your Story Video Challenge, which is being held by the White House Initiative for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Please check out the video and share it with people you know. And if you can spare a few dollars, please visit our website:

All your donations are tax-deductable, and at the end of every month, we will send 100% of the donations straight to Grace International’s feeding program. When I go to visit Haiti again, I will be sure to document what your donations and efforts are doing on behalf of these kids!

Went to Costco to pick up my new glasses today.

According to the lady who was helping me, my prescription was horribly out of date. When she asked me when my last eye check-up was, I was embarrassed to tell her that it was 7 years ago.

It’s been a while.

So I got me a shiny new pair!

Too bad for Mini-Grace, she was definitely not used to seeing me in my glasses.

To her credit, I did go as a nerd two years ago.

See?

My costume this year will be just as goofy.

In the meantime, I’m going to get used to my new glasses.

PS: RIP Old purple pair. You have served me well and faithfully the past 7 years.
